The cost of protection is small when “designed-in”

Protection from the effects of IEMI can take several forms and be implemented in a graduated approach. Shielding of individual components or at a system (group of components) level can provide some protection for relatively low cost. SCADA systems, security systems, or specific critical assets can be shielded in this way.

To provide more flexibility and total security and protection, facility remediation is recommended. “Enveloping” a room or building, at initial construction time, can often be accomplished for relatively low incremental cost.
