Barb Bender, Business Development

Barb has devoted much of her career to federal government programs, focusing on technology, product and solution developments for the Department of Defense, Department of Energy and Department of Transportation.   While in the Honeywell defense business, Barb developed strategies and implementation plans for business with The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Soldier Systems Command and the Departments and of the Army, Navy/USMC and Air Force.  She developed and executed business plans with prime defense contractors and with national and international program teams.

As director of strategic planning and marketing for Honeywell’s federal energy business, Barb brought government expertise and practices to a traditionally commercial business unit.  The team’s charter, to simultaneously grow top line and bottom line numbers in a “make market” environment, solidified Barb’s common sense approach to business development.    She served on the Honeywell Patent council, the Space and Aviation display Council, the National Association of Energy services Board of Directors and the Electronic Industries Association panel of night vision experts.

As a business consultant, Barb and her associates have worked with companies ranging from international energy and defense companies to advertising agencies, electronics manufacturers and several start-up companies.

Barb earned a JD at William Mitchell College of Law, an MA from St. Catherine University and a BA from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
